I pick up on my theme of flowers and bouquets, I strip them of the natural elements appropriate to photographic representation, I strip them of the illusional backgrounds of the traditional still life (the corner of a table, a chest of drawers, a cupboard…).
I assert this as a constructed work of art by “throwing” it on the canvas in a universe that belongs to the artist’s work shop : stains, drips, drool… I pull off this little miracle peculiar to artists : to show artifice, to create emotion…
We could parody the title of a painting by Magritte… “this is not a flower”… and yet…
